    Many people working in the shipping industry are fortunate in that they never have to engage in any aspect of enforcement or accident investigation. It is often the case that unless there is a particular need to become involved in these areas it's best to keep them at arm's length. Whilst this is quite understandable it does deny people the opportunity to understand the rationale behind many safety related maritime policies and to develop improved accident prevention protocols and contingency plans.

    This Marine Investigation diploma will give you the opportunity to update yourself on current trends in the industry and to understand how regulators and marine investigators go about their business and in particular to define the difference between enforcement and investigation.

    Whilst completing the marine investigation qualification you will learn how to break down an incident and to analyse its causes with a view to future prevention. The course also includes how reports are compiled by the experts leading to recommendations. You will look at the implications of an incident through the eyes of the legal profession and understand the types of incident that lead to enforcement and investigation.

    All of this is delivered by distance learning through the marine investigation course website providing students with the opportunity to interact with other participants and the tutors in a secure, dedicated environment. The modules are available online, or via hard copy for an additional fee.
